Not an easy job. There would be several ground rules to discuss:
a) Which comic is the "start"
b) since you'd go mad if you tied to keep up with modern publishing you'd have to pick an end "comic"
c) first difficult decision - do you only count comics published between the "start" and "end" comic or include comics published after the "end" comic that reveal continuity implants ?
d) Be sure to distinguish between continuity that is "wrong/contradictive" to past storylines rather than just continuity "YOU DON'T LIKE and want removed"
e) Once identified, what do we do ? Wipe it from the storyline ( being careful to trace any knock-on effects ) or try to come to some sort of board member consensus that explains the continuity glitch ?
f) Do we want our characters to be ageless or have some sort of age currency e.g. 10 years of publishing = 1 year in the MU.
g) What actual date do we want this "clean" continuity to start from ?
h) When comics reference a real world place or date ( e.g. Cap goes to the Viet-Nam war in one issue ). How do we fix that ? I think Kurt Busiek tried to introduce a sort of made-up country in the 616 a few years ago where any troublesome Commie/Far Eastern old stories were now meant to be set.
Anyone think of any other issues that need discussing around such a project ?
