Just saw this posted on the Transformers forum I post on since Power Rangers and Transformers are both Hadbro properties (they don't talk at all about Rom or Micronauts though) and this has everyone chattering.
I collected the singles for roughly 30 issues, but fully switched over to the oversized hardcovers a little while ago. The binding on those hardcovers sucked too, as bad as my Waid Captain America omnibus. I've had to glue two of them, with one needing glued twice.
I liked the comic a lot. It was where I first saw Dan Mora's art and fell in love with his work, I'll always think of him as a Power Rangers artist first and foremost even if that's not his favorite thing. Not really a big fan of the new writer Melissa Flores who's done the book since last year. I'll be sad for no more new PR comics, but it's been roughly three years and two writers ago since I really loved the book, so I find it hard to mourn.
I hope they retain the license at least long enough to pump out a final collection, just for completions sake. I'm gonna toss out my hopes of a vol 1 reprint now though, which is a shame because mine's binding is so bad I would just rebuy it.
Feels weird. This is the one Superhero title I've consistently read the past decade. I dropped off a lot of Marvel but told myself it was okay because at least PR was a thing. Now it's not. And I'm kind of sad. Even if it's time to put it down, I'm still sad about it
Hasbro really has wasted this property since acquiring it. I can't help but feel this would have gone down differently if the new show took off.
